When I arrived at the church, I quickly found a se Essays - Marriage
When I arrived at the church, I quickly found a seat midway back. The sanctuary was nothing like what I was used to attend. It was dark and everyone was extremely quiet. If it was not for the obvious wedding decorations, I would have thought I was at a funeral. It was Lucas's wedding, one of my best friends. To be honest, I didn't understand the logic behind the wedding's lighting; you could only see some light up candles where the priest and the couple were standing. I thought it was some kind of weird romantic thing my friend was trying to pull off with the candles. Anyways, the priest was reading the bible and making the usual wedding speech and after he finished it was time for the rings. I guess the couple didn't anticipate what could happen with such a dim lighting since the guy who was carrying the rings made it only halfway through the aisle before stepping on one of the floral arrangements attached to the seats. He fell on his knees, letting go of the hardly visible rings. Everyone seemed to laugh it off, and the bride said something along the lines of Well, I was for sure expecting that; now, whoever finds the rings gets to keep them!'. Everyone proceeded to turn on their phone's flashlights and started looking for the small rings on the floor. I walked through the kneeling crowd and up to the bride, and before I could question the choice of lighting, she told me she wasn't happy about my late arriving. Mostly because I missed the big power-off the church had 2 minutes before the ceremony started. She told me it was Lucas' idea to continue regardless of the darkness. I laughed and joined her, the priest, Lucas and the rest of the guests to find the rings. Nevertheless, this funny yet inconvenient incident didn't make the wedding any less magical.
